13 Days and counting....

13_days Sorry to disappear on you like that! My DH left for Boston on Sunday and it has only been a short few days since he left and already feels like months!

I'm hopeless LOL I miss him so much! He will be traveling there for the remainder of the year and coming home every other weekend! Well they picked a heck of a time to start this as he will not be home for my *cough* 43rd *cough* birthday *sigh*...I will live he will be home the weekend following and taking me to dinner and Hobby Lobby! I can deal with that! lol

I haven't worked in my journal for a very long time and thought it was high time that I did...especially with the need to express how I am feeling...Sorry again for the depressing art but hey gotta do what ya gotta do! ;O)

So now...I feel like painting more! I like this art journal page even if it's on the sad side.

This was created in my winter art journal...file folders are my pages in this journal...I used Gesso, acrylic paints, decorative papers, misc papers laying about my desk and Neo II's (love those crayons!!) and stamped the number 13 using rubberstamps I bought awhile back from Traci Bunkers here where she now has them on etsy!

Going to go paint some more and tidy up a bit as the landlords are coming over to see how much paint the house needs on the inside so it can be painted in the spring.

Much love and hugs!

How about an art page???....

The_magic_door_2008 Howdy doo! again!

This is an art page (not part of my art journal) it did not scan well at all! The pink border on the right is actually way brighter! Did I spell that right?! Eh well

Anywho! After I was finished I covered the whole piece in beeswax...hmmm that too is different in color due to the poor scan...I had purchased some beeswax and a quilting iron and I am telling you it is not an easy task...being that I have never done it before and plus never had a class to know how to do it properly. Here are the problems I had...One either my crockpot is too big or something..because by time I got the wax to the art piece the wax had solidified...hmmm...so the only way I could figure out to do this thing was to hold the art piece up by the crock pot to spread on the wax LOL Lawdy!!!

Ya! I don't know what I am doing...but...it sure does smell good...and the feel of the wax on the piece is wonderful!

This art page is mostly made up of handmade papers by yours truly! Moi! with the exception of the SB's sticker located in the bottom left corner and the small bit of paper (in brown color) in the top left corner which I snipped out of a curtain catalog! Nice patterns to find in that catalog!

Well least to say yesterday I exhausted myself with all the clearing out of closets and such to rid the house of crap we don't need to take on the move. By late afternoon I was feeling much flu-like...But wasn't the flu(this happens more often than not) Once we get settled in TN ..I will be looking for a good doctor...one that can put a name to whatever it is I have. I'm guessing here (not a good idea) one of two things ...either RA or something like Fibromyalga (sp check)...I am no doctor by no means...and no I am not a hypocondriac...the pain is real...I am not complaining though...I keep doing what I like to do everyday to keep what ever it is ailing me out of my mind. Maybe that's it! I'm losing my mind!! LOL I know...can't lose what you never had to begin with! hee hee Whatever it is I have to be bigger than it...and by the look of my un-exercised body I can definately put a stamp of approval on my poochie belly! LOL

No clearing out for me today! Going to spend my time making paint and glue messes on my desk! *grin*

Much love and hugs!!!

The Road That Leads Home.....

Camping_april_2007_197 Where does this road lead?

This is an actual photo of the road to where we used to live....

It leads to where my heart is...my home...my adopted home...where the grass is mostly green all year...so many trees...horses...friendly folks...a place where my heart and soul feels content.

Tennessee!!!!

I'm coming home baby! Yup! It's official! I haven't spoken a word about moving to you...the reason...I didn't want to get my hopes up! But now that my hubbys job allows us to live where we want and he can still have the same job has been a prayer well answered! I am so proud of him on how far he has come in his profession! YOU GO DH! I love you baby!!!

When?? Well we already have a home ready and waiting for us there...not much to look at but I don't care! I will  have my family and the beauty of Tennessee all around me!

The hard part is that my DH will be gone most of this year! He will return home every other weekend for a short stay and then hop back on a plane to Boston...I can do this thing!

Camping_april_2007_187 Would you just look at that! So pretty and so close to the Smokies!!

You can find old barns and little shacks that were once someones home from long ago still standing proudly!

I will have to get more photos for you once we are there of some gorgeous plantation houses! Did I say gorgeous?!

In the fall they close down vehicle traffic downtown (that is another photo I need to take so old fashioned and so darn cute) and have their Fall Festival! Something I think you would love! Lots of arts and crafts! Great food! Great people! Great music and dancing!

The place we will live if you walk out the back door... walk about 20-30 feet or so you will find a fence where you can pet the noses of some beautiful horses! And a hill (they call them mountains hee hee) with trees so thick and of many different kinds of trees that cover the hill...now that is a God's given gift to mankind! And I think to myself.....What a Wonderful World!

I am off now (ahem yes literally too) ;O) to start going through things and start eliminating stuff that we don't need. So here we go!!!

Much Love and Hugs! Create something wonderful!!

It did it again!

Wish_2008 Let's see what I have to share with you today!

First up! Another 'Hangy Thingie' "WISH" 12"x 5" on 140lb hotpress watercolor paper (pssst I never use the paper for water color painting...don't tell no one hee hee)

Stuff I used: Gesso, acrylic paints, colored pencils(girls face/hair/shirt/leggings), rubber stamps (in the background), decorative papers and handmade papers (house/girls skirt/ground/heart), some cute fibers (I got on a sweet package in the mail) and some silver curly ribbon for that added touch! ;O)

Hmmmm...What else do we have......

Felix_2008_box_sleeping Oh! Yes! This little guy or at least he thinks he's still little...but he is actually a full grown cat (still my baby) A big tom cat...no fat just muscle! See that little box? That is the lid to one of our kids puzzles....I can't believe he stuffed himself into such a small space and could still sleep!!! Funny cat! He makes me giggle so! :O)

Now what!? January_19th_2008_snowfall OMG! Can you believe it? It snowed again!!! That's a record for South Carolina!! It's got to be! It snowed hard for a good 5 hours...but do you think any of it stuck around...ahhh heck no! The ground was already wet from rain and other factors. Darn! I wanted to make a snow angel! *pout* ...What else...ahh why not! How about some more art!! Heartfelt_2008

"Heartfelt" 6"x 12" again on 140lb hot press watercolor paper! Yup! Another 'Hangy Thingie'

Elements of my madness include: Gesso, acrylic paints, rubber stamping (words) other inkings, handdrawn face/hair with colored pencils (I know what's up with the colored pencils?! With my shakey arthritic hands drawing details is alot easier for me than to paint them SO THERE! LOL), Vintage wallpaper (dress), lovely handstamped paper from Debra (wings), handmade paper (cut out hearts), fiber hanger and silver curly ribbon!! Oh! And silver gel pen for those little shiney dots! I got that pen from SUZE

I have a few more art pieces to share...one that I finished last night and maybe a couple Art Pages which I sure haven't done alot of lately or any journaling in my art journal...don't ask me why...I cannot tell ya! I guess I just feel like doing what I am doing! But I will share all that in another post! :o)

Much love and hugs!

It Snowed!! Whoa!

Snow_2008_012 Weeeeeeee! hee hee hee hee! It snowed! It snowed! In South Carolina!

This first photo was taken about 6AM! My daughter Sarah and her puppy Ace...his first snow! Awwww hims gots his sweater on! Awwwwwww Awwwwwwww!

This next photo...taken about the same time...Is all three of my girls having a snowball fight before the snow melts away from the rain! Snow_2008_fort_lawn_sc

And lookie what I have here for you to see!!! "TENDER MOMENTS" it's about 13-14" H x 6" W. I know weird size...but I am weird too so what else is there to say! It is a Hangy Thingy on 140lb hot press watercolor paper...has a pretty turquoise fiber hanger thingy...See I told you it was a hangy thingy LOL...With a little bit of silver curly ribbon for added embellishment and bling bling! The art itself has so many different papers involved! Vintage dictionary paper...vintage wall paper...decorative papers...handmade papers...vintage music sheet paper and other fun papers! The girl image is one I created with my own two little hands with colored pencils for her face! Cute cute cute! Her dress is a handmade paper that I made and has a cute little flower gem embellishment adorning her neckline! Her legs are from a book I ordered at Amazon.com "Fresh Fruits"! In her little hands she carries a sweet little Valentine for the one she loves! And also...red heart gems embellished around her! So Shabby Chic! Don't you think?! I know so different for me! lol

012 I am now currently working on another (psst I have more to show but this post is a bit long already) piece...Let's just say Flapper GIrl! And eagerly wanting to work on it...everything is cut out and waiting on my desk ready for play!!!!

So off I go! Much love and hugs!

A Little sneaky peek....

001 I've been away too long! In a way that is good cuz I have been doing alot of art and in a way not so good because I miss you all so much! xo

This is a sneaky peek at what I have been up to!

Painting on my desk pretty pictures! Something way different...different for me anyways! But I am having alot of fun! Stocking up on paper...patterened papers, vintage papers, wrapping papers! :D And when I can't find what paper I need ..I will make my own!

If you've been at my etsy shop lately you have probably seen that I took everything down! It is a new year and I will be listing new art really really soon!

I am hoping to get this art piece (in the photo) done today so I can show you tomorrow! I feel really good about it but at the same time weirded out because it something I am not used to. You'll see what I mean! I think the sneak  peek gives you a semi-idea! Maybe not!

Oh! Almost forgot! Here in South Carolina we are expecting freezing rain snow!! Hey! I can call it what I want! hee hee! And why did my font just change on me...eh well ...anyways...I really hope it snows! If it does I am taking a picture! It is a rare thing for us here in the south! :D

Now back to getting glue and paint on my fingers (and ahem everything else) Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

Much love!

A Day to Create...

The gray clouds move swiftly across the sky, moving at a pace I have never witnessed before. The bare winter trees rustle and bend in the chilly wind. It is still in the morning hours and have yet to see the sun peek through. And as I write this the sun has just now made an appearance to let me know it had definately rose this morning and just as quickly as it shown itself, disappeared behind the clouds.

Outside my windows, I witness moisture dripping off the eave of the house, surely a sign of some much needed raingutters but at the same time gladened by the fact that rain is present. Just a drop or two at the moment as I sit silently watching and waiting for the clouds to break free and pour rain upon the dry brown grass that lay beneath eagerly waits to have a drink.

I anticipate rain and don't see rainy days as dismal but infact a natural sign of refreshing the earth and my soul. To me the smell of rain is enticing and welcomed in my little world. A day to find myself at my desk in my studio writing or dipping my paintbrush into small pots of paint and swirling the colors across the eagarly waiting paper that calls to me to make it come alive with color and imagery. And possibly a bit of glue here and there to small pieces of paper in which I've decorated with my spirits thoughts and words.

Today, unaware of doing anything useful or creative, has suddenly become something well needed in a pool of blurry days that went so quickly that nothing was accomplished and before I knew it, it was nighttime and those days had come to an end. A well deserved time to utilize my lonely art supplies, who have been so neglegted and somewhat forgotten. Such patient friends I keep.

A new year has come and waiting for me to do something with it and within my heart I know that there is something good, patiently waiting for me to discover!!

So, on that note I am off to make new discoveries!!

Much love and all my best wishes,

NancyB

2008

015 Happy 2008!

Christmas came and went without a hitch...everything went pretty smooth...Even if I didn't get my shopping done till the night before LOL

We enjoyed a ginormous Lasagna dinner, which turned out yummy if I do say so myself! hee hee I told everyone next Christmas I am opting for something other than Lasagna! What a mess I made hee hee But everyone enjoyed themeselves!

Then came New Years Eve...not only was a new year coming but my youngest daughters birthday to boot! A Happy 9th birthday indeed! That's her in the photo! My Jessica! Making her special wish before blowing out the candles on her birthday cake!

We celebrated with a dinner out for pizza, pressies and cake and then a major fireworks display...Least to say we put the neighborhood to shame with all the firework bangs, booms and lit up the sky!!! It was fabulous! The hub and I barely made it to midnight...I think that has to do with the age factor lol But we made it and got to watch the ball drop on tv...wished everyone a Happy New Year and sleepily headed for bed. Now aren't we just a bunch of party hardies! Ha!

Spent most of the 1st sleeping...and day dreaming and babying a nagging headache from staying up so late! lol The times I was awake I lay there thinking about the past year and didn't accomplish any one thing in particular. And then it hit me! Why YES I did...I was published 4 times! Now that surely has got to be something! Yes!

Resolutions! What resolutions!? No not me...I never follow through! lol For 2008, I am just going to be me and enjoy each day as it comes! Sure I have things I want to accomplish this year...but by no means a resolution! This year I am going to take it slow and not rush anything.

Today is bitterly cold at a whoopin 19 degrees! Brrr! But I am not going to let that bother me! This day...TODAY! We find out what our oldest daughters baby will be! Can we say GRANDMA!? hee hee...I surely love the way that word falls from my lips and will be even more precious to hear that word from my first grandbaby! Is it a boy? Is it a girl? We shall know that soon, later this afternoon! Yippy! I can barely stand the excitement!

So  now...I will take things slow...do my best not to stress...and enjoy the little things that come!

Many Blessings to you in 2008!
